What does Organic mean?
Lakewood Organic products are Certified Organic which means the fruit and vegetables are grown and harvested in accordance with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). The NOP was established in December 2000 and provides regulations and guidelines for all organic growers and processors.
All Organic fruit and vegetables are grown and processed according to strict guidelines such as soil quality, pest and weed control, and without the use of additives, growth regulators or prohibited substances such as most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

Are Lakewood Juices Gluten free?
Yes. All Lakewood juices are gluten free. Gluten refers to products derived from wheat, rye, barley and crossbreeds of these grains. Fruit and Vegetable juices are inherently gluten free. Are Lakewood juices tested for toxic heavy metals?
At Lakewood, there is nothing more important than the health and safety of our consumers. Accordingly, all Lakewood juices are bottled to meet rigid specifications for quality and food safety, including utilizing an industry-leading metal testing process.
Heavy metals are present in soil, water, and air worldwide; therefore, trace amounts may be detected in food and beverage products.
Lakewood’s heavy metal monitoring program consists of quarterly testing random juice samples for arsenic and lead using an ISO/ IEC 17005 accredited laboratory. Additional heavy metals of concern, such as cadmium and mercury, are also tested periodically.
Lakewood test results for heavy metals fall below the safety limits established by U.S. regulatory bodies. All our organic ingredients are grown and harvested without the use of any arsenic-containing pesticides or fertilizers, further minimizing the presence of any potential soil contaminants.
All Lakewood juices are safe for consumption without concern.
What are the different types of Organic Aloe Products that Lakewood offers?
Lakewood offers various different Organic Aloe juices:
· Organic Pure Aloe Inner Fillet Juice: Pressed from Fresh Aloe Leaves (inner leaf only). This juice has a very mild flavor
· Organic Pure Aloe Gel Inner Fillet Gel: Pressed from Fresh Aloe Leaves (inner leaf only). The product contains xanthan gum and organic guar bean gum as a source of fiber. Due to its higher fiber content, Pure Aloe Gel has a thicker consistency compared to Pure Aloe Inner Fillet Juice.
· Organic Pure Whole Leaf Aloe: Pressed from Fresh Whole Aloe Leaves. This juice has a somewhat harsher flavor representative of the oils found in the aloe outer leaf. Aloin or latex has been removed. This Aloe Juice has been filtered (decolorized) to remove the Whole Leaf Aloin (latex anthraquinone)
· Organic Aloe Plus Cherry: Pressed from Fresh Whole Aloe Vera Leaves blended with Organic Red Tart Cherry, Organic Dark Sweet Cherry Juice and Acerola Cherry Juice from concentrate.
Lakewood Aloe products have always been preservative-free. Lakewood pioneered the process of adding natural organic lemon juice to pure aloe (to lower the pH) and bottle the product safely under standard pasteurization controls. This technique naturally protects the aloe, without the use of preservatives such as potassium sorbate or benzoic acid.
How much nutrition is lost during pasteurization of juices?
Fruit and vegetable juices contain a wide range of nutrients including essential vitamins and minerals. The only nutrient of importance in fruit and vegetable juices that is sensitive to pasteurization is Vitamin C. Lakewood’s pasteurization process would cause no more than a 10% loss in Vitamin C.
Please note that the Nutrition Facts provided in each product label states the nutritional content of the product after pasteurization. A serving of most juices high in Vitamin C, such as orange juice or grapefruit juice, provides more than the recommended daily intake for Vitamin C. Therefore, a 10% loss of Vitamin C after pasteurization can be considered negligible.

How are Lakewood Juices made?
Lakewood juices start with fresh fruit or vegetables. Once the fruit or vegetable is picked, it is loaded onto field trucks and transported to the processing plant where it is washed, graded and selected. Next, the produce is pressed and the puree or juice is passed through a finisher to remove excess pulp, seeds and skin. Finally, the juice is pasteurized, bottled and vacuum safety sealed in new and clean glass bottles.
Which quality standards does Lakewood adhere to?
Lakewood strives to meet and exceed strict quality standards. The equipment used in Lakewood’s production process meets all applicable USDA and FDA specifications and requirements. Product labeling meets all current USDA, FDA and Organic Standards.
Are all Lakewood juices vacuum-sealed in glass bottles?
Yes, all Lakewood Juice Products are vacuum-sealed in air-barrier glass containers to prevent fermentation or “spoilage”.
Once I have opened a bottle, how long will the juice last in the refrigerator?
Please remember that Lakewood juices do not contain preservatives. All Lakewood juices are pasteurized and therefore, the general rule is “bottled fruit juices that have been opened and stored in your refrigerator should be consumed within 2 weeks”. After that period of time, once opened - depending on the storage temperature - fruit and vegetable juices will begin their natural deterioration. Depending on the particular environment, the juice will eventually ferment or bread mold will grow a colony on the surface of the juice (eventually the colony would sink to the bottom of the bottle).Please note that Juice Concentrates, Lemon juice, Lime juice and Noni juice are substantially more stable and may be stored in your refrigerator for several months without any deterioration. What is Biodynamic?
Biodynamic agriculture is a method of organic farming that emphasizes the holistic development and interrelationships of the soil, plants and animals as a self-sustaining system. It is one of the first modern ecological farming systems that emphasizes a sustainable approach to agriculture. Biodynamic has many elements in common with other organic specifications. Biodynamic emphasizes the use of manures and composts, and excludes the use of artificial chemicals on soils and plants. Methods unique to the biodynamic approach include its treatment of crops and soils as a single ecosystem.
The principles of Biodynamic Agriculture were developed by Dr. Rudolf Steiner in Germany in 1924. Dr. Steiner is credited with establishing the fundamentals after being approached by a group of local farmers concerned with the rapidly deteriorating vitality of crop and animal health on their farms. Today Biodynamic agriculture has grown into a worldwide system represented in more than 50 countries.

What are the small particles found at the bottom of Lakewood Organic Pure Concord Grape Juice?
These particles are grape crystals called tartrates. They are naturally-occurring grape juice particles that sometimes collect at the bottom of the bottle as the juice settles (often accelerated by chilling of the juice). The crystals are tartaric acid that is naturally found in grape juice, as are tartaric salts – potassium bi-tartrate and calcium tartrate. They are part of what makes grape juice, grape juice.Occasionally these particles will become very hard and form small crystals. There is nothing harmful, as this is completely natural. These particles are not present at the time of pressing and bottling the juice- these crystals form during storage and shipping.In fact, the presence of tartrate crystals is often seen as a sign of high quality. For example, in winemaking, sommeliers and academics see tartrates as an indication that the wine was not over-processed. Tartrate removal can be achieved by various methods such as cold stabilization, chemical additives or grape/vine management practices. However, Lakewood chooses not to use any of these methods because they negatively impact the quality of the juice – these methods reduce the aromas and flavors from the juice.

What is the difference between Pure Cranberry and Cranberry Blend?
Lakewood Pure Cranberry juice contains only the juice pressed from fresh cranberries. Since there is nothing added to our 100% Pure Cranberry juice, the product will naturally have a bitter and acidic taste. For best taste results, combine 100% Pure Cranberry juice with water or another Lakewood juice such as Pure Apple or Pure Concord Grape.Lakewood Cranberry Blend is a mixture of apple, cranberry and grape or pear juice. The flavor profile is much milder than the Pure Cranberry juice.
What is the shelf life of Lakewood juices?
Lakewood juices have a “Best By” date (also known as quality date) printed on the shipping carton and cap of individual bottles. Lakewood juices are vacuum-sealed in air-barrier glass containers and therefore will not ferment or "spoil" as long as the original seal is maintained. We encourage customers to maintain Lakewood juices in a cool or air-conditioned environment as all fruit and vegetable juices will lose flavor and color if they are not properly stored and rotated. For long-term storage, we suggest a refrigerated environment. It is important to note that juices packed in glass bottles should not be frozen. Freezing will cause the vacuum seal to open. Once a bottle is opened - Please refer to the label for information as to the number of weeks that the juice will be at the “Best Quality and Freshness”.Lakewood juices do not contain any preservatives. Bottles that have been opened should be refrigerated and consumed within two weeks. After that period, juices will begin their natural fermentation and deterioration process. Some products such as Lakewood Pure Lemon juice, Lakewood Pure Lime juice and Lakewood Organic Pure Noni juice, due to their specific characteristics, may be stored in your refrigerator for several weeks without any significant deterioration. What does "Best By" mean?
Lakewood juices have a “Best By” date printed on the cap. "Best By" is the date recommended for best flavor and quality. It is not an expiration or safety date. The date provided by Lakewood is an indication of how long the juice will retain its best quality when the product has remained sealed and properly stored. After the “Best By” date has passed, you may start to notice gradual changes in the color or flavor of the juice. Juices held beyond the “Best By” date in their original seal are safe to drink.
Are Lakewood Organic Juices non-GMO?
All Lakewood Organic Products are non-GMO Certified by Quality Certification Services (QCS) under the USDA-NOP Organic Certification Program. The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) regulations prohibit the use of GMO’s as “excluded methods” under 7 CFR § 205.105 in Organic Agriculture.
Are Lakewood Products BPA-Free?
All Lakewood juice products are packaged in glass bottles. There are no BPA, BPS or DEHP concerns associated with glass containers.
The bottle caps on Lakewood products (liners and food contact coatings) do not contain BPA.
Are Lakewood juices vegan?
All Lakewood products, except Lakewood Organic Lemon Ginger Echinacea, do not contain any animal products or by-products. Lakewood Organic Lemon-Ginger Echinacea contains honey.
Occasionally some bottles of Lakewood juice will leave a stain on the inside of the bottle. Why does this happen?
During the manufacturing process of glass bottles, the interior of the bottle will occasionally remain slightly porous. When this occurs, color pigments (known as Anthocyanins) from the fruit or vegetable can become lodged in the microscopic pores of the glass, thus staining the inside of the bottle. There are no health concerns related to these products. In fact, the intense color pigmentation is indicative of a high level of Anti-Oxidant activity.This staining could be controlled by the use of an artificial stabilizer. However, Lakewood chooses not to use artificial ingredients in our juices.
Do Lakewood products contain any of the Eight Major Food Allergens?
Lakewood is committed to providing consumers with complete information regarding the ingredients in our products. All Lakewood products meet or exceed current standards and product labeling clearly states product ingredients. All Lakewood juice products accurately disclose the presence of the Eight Major Allergenic Foods as per U.S. FDA Regulations: Milk, Eggs, Peanuts, Tree Nuts* (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts), Fish, Crustacean Shellfish, Soybeans, and Wheat.*Please note that Lakewood does bottle Coconut juices (Lakewood Organic Coconut Blend and Lakewood Organic Pineapple Coconut Blend).
